Who We Are

Literacy has always been at the core of Keys to Learning as we build educational opportunities for children in North Harris and Montgomery County. 

Keys to Learning promotes youth development through a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math into its events. Committee activities include a Junior League-branded Literacy Carnival and STREAM-focused events.

Literacy Carnival 

For two decades, the Junior League of The Woodlands has promoted the importance of literacy by hosting JLTW Literacy Carnivals. 

The 2025 Literacy Carnival will take place at the East Aldine Community Center on Saturday, September 27, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. For our 20th anniversary of the event, we will be celebrating heroes of all kinds! 

Each family attending will receive a hot lunch, snacks, free books, entertainment, and a chance to participate in various games and literacy-based crafts.

Promoting Literacy through STREAM 

Junior League of The Woodlands hosted our first annual STREAM event for the public in 2025 at Texas Bank in Conroe. 

Partnering with Texas Torque Robotics, Friends of Texas Wildlife, and Montgomery Public Library, we introduced 100 Conroe ISD students to science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in a fun and interconnected way. 

We are always seeking additional partnerships to expand this initiative as we prepare for the 2026 STREAM Day. 

Reading is Revolutionary Read to Me Picture Book Festival 

The purpose of the Read to Me Picture Book Festival is to encourage children to read for fun. Partnering with Reading is Revoluntary, traditionally published authors will be invited to take the stage to introduce children to new books and voices.
