InSTEP (In Support of Teen Empowerment and Progress)

InSTEP (In Support of Teen Empowerment and Progress) is dedicated to positively impacting the lives of youth and teens in our community.

We recognize the challenges many in North Harris and Montgomery County face, such as the significant risk of homelessness within 18 months of aging out of foster care, the lack of access to essential hygienic products for many teen girls, and the financial struggles of many residents in our community to afford essential hygiene items.

InSTEP hosts events for at-risk-teens staying at the YES for YOUTH facility.

Established in 2019 by the Junior League of The Woodlands, InSTEP is designed to provide resources and support to key community partners serving the teen population in our service area. We collaborate with organizations like Giving Gown Foundation, The Champion Project, and YES to YOUTH to foster mental health resilience, life skills, self-esteem, empowerment, education, progress, and a sense of belonging and inclusion.

One of our significant initiatives is The Period Project, launched in 2020, which aims to donate period supplies and feminine hygiene products to area school districts, ensuring students have free access to these necessities. In 2023, InSTEP distributed an impressive 54,610 feminine hygiene products to 61 campuses across school districts in our service area are part of The Period Project initiative.
